North Mankato Police Seize a Pound of Methamphetamine During Traffic Stop

On Monday, January 5th, 2026, at 2 p.m., a North Mankato police officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Tyler Ave and Stewart St for a vehicle equipment violation and suspicion of the vehicle owner having an outstanding warrant.
Through the course of the traffic stop the officer developed probable cause to search the vehicle for narcotics. During the search officers discovered over a pound of suspected methamphetamine, along with several other items of narcotics paraphernalia, evidence of narcotics sales, and burglary tools.
The driver, Troy Scott Martin, age 41, of rural Madelia MN, who was also the sole occupant of the vehicle, was arrested and transported to the Nicollet County Detention Facility, and was charged in Nicollet Co District Court with:
– Felony 1st Degree Sale of Narcotics
– Felony 1st Degree Possession of Narcotics
– Felony 2nd Degree Sale of Narcotics
– Felony 2nd Degree Possession of Narcotics
– Felony Possession of Burglary Tools
– Misdemeanor Driving After Revocation.
The estimated street value of seized narcotics is $4600.00.
