The City of Mankato has purchased an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), also known as drone. The UAV will be used across City departments and operated by trained staff. Public Safety is one of the departments that will be using this tool so must adopt a policy specific to how the UAV will be used by law enforcement.

Using best practice and information from the League of Minnesota Cities, a policy has been drafted, and under Minnesota State Statute 626.19, subdivision 9, it must be shared with the public for their input prior to it being adopted. Community members are encouraged to provide input through Tuesday, October 4 on Every Voice Mankato
