The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP is increasing the gross income limit today (THU). Tikki Brown with the Minnesota Department of Human Services says that means…

“More people will be eligible for the program and for those that are on the program if their income fluctuates you know due to different jobs or hours that they might have they will be able to stay on the program longer.”

Brown says an additional 1,400 households may become eligible for SNAP or may continue receiving their existing SNAP assistance–even if their income goes up. For most households, the gross monthly income limit for SNAP in Minnesota will rise to 200-percent of the federal poverty line, up from 165-percent.
