Private jets are the new fur:  That silly extravagance that celebrities are being pressured more and more to give up on.  And now there’s a Twitter account that’s helping to apply that pressure.

It’s called Celebrity Jets, and it tracks famous people’s private jet flights . . . revealing how long the flights were and how much jet fuel was used.  And it’s pretty eye-opening.

You may have heard that Kylie Jenner took a 17-minute flight recently, from Camarillo to Van Nuys, California.  The trip would have taken her about 45 minutes by car, depending on traffic.

Well, she’s not the only offender.  Not by a long shot.

Yesterday, Steven Spielberg took an 18-minute flight between two points in Ireland.  It was a trip of about 84 miles, that used more than a thousand pounds of jet fuel and created two tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Also yesterday, Blake Shelton flew from Van Nuys to Fresno, burning 1,800 pounds of fuel, and creating THREE tons of CO2.  His flight was a LITTLE more reasonable, at 190 miles.

But seriously, how many times have YOU flown a distance that short?

Should celebrities . . . especially the ones who crusade for the environment . . . be taking these eco-UNFRIENDLY trips?
