Three Injured in U.S. Highway 212 Crash Near Stewart

A two-vehicle crash on Saturday evening near Stewart in McLeod County left three people injured, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The collision occurred around 7:00 p.m. on June 14 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 212 and Bowman Street, where a Chevrolet Silverado traveling east and a Toyota RAV4 heading west collided on wet pavement.

The driver of the Silverado, 70-year-old Randal Kalenberg of Stewart, sustained non-life-threatening injuries but was not transported for treatment. Authorities noted he was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was involved. In the RAV4, passenger Marleen Hartjes, 75, of Springfield, was taken to Glencoe Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver, 79-year-old John Hartjes, and an 11-year-old male passenger were not injured. Emergency crews from McLeod County, Stewart Fire, and Buffalo Lake Ambulance assisted at the scene.
