Traffic restrictions announced for Mankato Marathon
Be prepared and plan for some traffic disruption during the Mankato Marathon, which begins Friday, Oct. 17, at 4:30 p.m. and continues Saturday, Oct. 18, at 7:20 a.m. The event will start at Kato Moving and Storage, 417 Poplar Street. Some Mankato streets will be temporarily closed, and traffic will be redirected to ensure the safety of runners and motorists. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes when possible.
Friday, Oct. 17
Road closures
- 2 p.m. to midnight: Poplar Street (from A Street to Sibley Parkway).
- 5 to 7 p.m.: Sibley Parkway (Rogers Street to Mound Avenue, through the park).
Expected traffic delays
- 5 to 7 p.m.: Sibley Parkway (Rogers Street to Mound Avenue, through the park).
Saturday, Oct. 18
Road closures
- Midnight to 10 a.m.: Poplar Street (from A Street to Sibley Parkway).
- 3 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Front Street (Marshall Street to Cherry Street).
- 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Stoltzman Road (West Pleasant Street to Van Brunt Street) and Blue Earth Street/West Pleasant Street (Winona Street to Stoltzman Road).
- 7 to 9 a.m.: Park Lane (Woodland Avenue to Sibley Street), Woodland Avenue (Fifth Street to Sibley Street), and Sibley Parkway (Rogers Street to Mound Avenue, through the park).
- 8:30 to 10:40 a.m.: Stoltzman Road (Highway 90 to 200th Street).
- 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.: Highway 1 (190th Street to Red Jacket Park).
Expected traffic delays
- 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.: Riverfront Drive at Sibley Street and Carney Avenue, and Poplar Street at Sibley Parkway.
- 7:30 to 10 a.m.: Carney Avenue at Eighth Street.
- 7:45 to 9:30 a.m.: Baker Avenue at Oak Knoll Boulevard, Ridgewood Avenue at Baker Avenue, and Ridgewood Avenue at Sunset Boulevard.
- 8:30 to 11 a.m.: Monks Avenue at Highway 90.
- 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Highway 90 at Indian Lake Road, Indian Lake Road at Highway 66 (trail crossing), and Stoltzman Road (Highway 90 to West Pleasant Street at trail crossings).
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and use caution in marathon areas.
