Uptick in snowmobile fatals across the state
We’ve seen a slight up-tick in snowmobile fatals so far this season across the state. The DNR’s Alexander Birdsall says to treat the riding trails like a two-lane highway:
“So just like our roads, we stay to the right. On snowmobiles, we stay to the right. Speeds of 50 miles per hour — two snowmobiles hitting head-on can be catastrophic — so stay to the right, slow down for curves and slow down when you encounter another rider head-on.”
So far this riding season there have been seven snowmobile fatals.
