$30,000 Match to Supercharge Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign

In response to a shortfall in this year’s Red Kettle campaign, The Salvation Army is pleased to announce that a group of committed private donors has stepped forward with a bold challenge: every dollar donated at local Salvation Army kettles from December 17 through December 19 will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $30,000!

The donors hope the limited-time match will create urgency, energize volunteers, and inspire the community to rally around The Salvation Army’s most visible fundraising effort of the year.

“This is the moment our community cannot afford to look away,” said Captain Andy Wheeler with The Salvation Army. “The need didn’t slow down when the weather turned cold—and neither can we. Every gift dropped into a kettle during this match becomes twice as impactful for those we serve.”

The Salvation Army is asking residents to give generously during the three-day match and help reach the full $30,000 goal by the final Saturday of the campaign. Additional bell ringers are urgently needed to ensure the community can take full advantage of the matching funds.

Money raised through the Red Kettle Campaign supports the critical services The Salvation Army provides all year long: including the free lunch program, eviction or utility assistance and the Day Shelter – serving our unhoused friends and their pets.

“This challenge is about more than catching up—it’s about finishing strong,” Mark Murphy, this year’s corporate campaign chair, added. “When people see a staffed kettle with a kettle filled to the brim, it sends a message of hope to everyone who depends on these services.”
