Farmamerica to Host the World’s Largest U.S. Flag Kite
Farmamerica, Waseca Sleigh and Cutter, and Great American Kites & Events, are thrilled to invite the community to a free, family friendly kite festival on July 5 from 11 AM – 4 PM at Farmamerica, located just 5 miles west of Waseca.
The sky will come alive with color, movement, and awe as “Old Glory,” the world’s largest U.S. flag kite (weighing nearly 600 pounds) takes to the air in scheduled flights at 12 PM, 2 PM, and 4 PM. All flight times are weather and wind dependent. If conditions are not favorable, a full lineup of other giant show kites will continue.
Event Highlights Include:
- Children’s activities hosted by Great American Kites & Events.
- Interactive Family Kite Flying Area- Guests are invited to bring their own kites and enjoy the open sky!
- Kite Store- A mobile onsite kite retail store offering many different kite products.
- Meet the Kite Flyers- Snap a selfie and learn about the amazing kites on display.
- Food Trucks & Vendors- Grab a bite and enjoy your day outdoors.
- Entertainment- The Marv Nissel Band will be playing on Farmamerica’s back patio.
After enjoying the kites, guests are encouraged to take a hands-on journey through Minnesota’s rich agricultural history. Explore the authentic 1850s Homestead, ring the bell at the historic One-Room Schoolhouse, visit friendly farm animals, and peek into the Blacksmith Shop. Discover how agriculture has evolved from the 1800s to today and how it continues to shape our daily lives.
Whether you’re coming for the kites, the history, or a day of outdoor fun, this free event promises something for everyone in the family.
