- Sibley County Sheriff’s Office responds to one vehicle rollover crash near Sibley Township.
- State workers will return to the office in St. Paul this week. Many employees have not been in the downtown area since the pandemic shutdown in 2020. Meanwhile, St. Paul city workers have been back in the office since April, but the return of State employees can give an economic boost to the downtown area’s recovery effort. Governor Tim Walz implemented a return-to-office policy in March, which requires the state workforce to alternate between working remotely and being present in the office at least 50 percent of the time.
- The Commerce and Consumer Protection bill passed through the working group, but a key part of it, aimed at keeping kids safe, was dropped. Lawmakers tried to ban the sale of flavored nitrous oxide to kids who can use it to get high. DFL Senator Matt Klein of Mendota Heights says the bill needs another look. “I’d like to work in the interim with the retail industry to see if this requires regulation or if it can be removed from stores simply on the initiative of the industry on their own. Let’s make sure that these products are kept from the kids in Minnesota.” Klein says the bill was dropped this time due to language that needed clarification.
- No one was hurt following a structure fire at the Rochester Public Utilities facility Sunday night. Officials say the flames caused significant damage to the contents inside, and the structure itself had minor to moderate damage. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
