Two Dead in Annunciation Catholic Church Shooting in Minneapolis
- Two more shootings in Minneapolis last night (TUES) after a mass shooting killed one and injured six others. Police responded to the first around 8 p.m. A man in his twenties was brought to Hennepin Healthcare with life-threatening gunshot wounds, where he later died. Another man in his twenties was dropped off at another hospital twenty minutes later with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds sustained from that shooting. Police responded to the second shooting around 2 a.m. Investigators say a man was part of a group on the sidewalk when a gunman opened fire and left the scene on foot. The victim was pronounced dead. Another man was dropped off at a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries sustained from that shooting. No arrests have been made in either case.

Mankato Community Stepping Up to Support Family After Monday Fire

Authorities say a semi-truck crash briefly impacted traffic in North Mankato Tuesday morning. The Minnesota State Patrol reports that around 8 a.m., a 2007 Peterbilt semi rolled onto its side while exiting northbound Highway 169 at Center Street. The driver, 22-year-old Trevor Jorgenson of Osakis, was wearing his seatbelt and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato for treatment. No other vehicles were involved. The ramp was temporarily blocked while crews responded. North Mankato Police, Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office, Mayo Ambulance, and MnDOT assisted at the scene.

The Mankato/North Mankato Area Planning Organization is asking residents for feedback on design options for the Lee Boulevard Study. A community survey is open now through Thursday, August 28, giving residents a chance to weigh in on four proposed alternatives for the roadway. Officials say the feedback will help refine the design and shape a recommended plan that reflects community priorities. The study covers Lee Boulevard between Lookout Drive and Belgrade Avenue in North Mankato. Planners are evaluating improvements for traffic flow, intersection safety, flood mitigation, and better bicycle and pedestrian connections.
