Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) has received a clean audit report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. The independent audit was conducted by CliftonLarsonAllen LLP (CLA).

The audit reported no findings, confirming that the District’s financial statements are fairly stated and that strong internal controls and compliance practices are in place.

“This is really good news for our community,” said School Board Chair Shannon Sinning. “It shows that the District is being careful, responsible, and transparent with taxpayer dollars, and that the systems we have in place are working the way they should.”

The audit results include an unmodified audit opinion, commonly referred to as a clean audit. Auditors identified no deficiencies in internal control over financial reporting and no compliance issues related to laws, regulations, contracts, or grants. In addition, no Minnesota legal compliance findings were reported.

As part of the required federal Single Audit, auditors reviewed federal expenditures, including the Child Nutrition Cluster. No findings were identified.

The audit presentation also highlights the District’s continued strong financial position. The General Fund reflects a positive unassigned fund balance trend, supporting responsible day to day operations and long term financial planning. Other funds, including Food Service, Community Service, and Debt Service, also remain in solid financial condition.

For fiscal year 2025, General Fund revenues totaled approximately $131 million, with the majority of funding coming from state sources, followed by local property taxes. Expenditures continue to be primarily focused on salaries and benefits, directly supporting students and staff.

MAPS is committed to transparency and accountability and regularly shares financial information with the School Board and the public. The audit report and presentation were reviewed by the School Board and are available for public review.
