Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Agents and area police believe they thwarted a potential mass casualty event after they arrested a St. Peter man last week. Mohamed Adan Mohamed of St. Peter was charged with two felony counts in Blue Earth County District Court Monday, including:

Theft, with a Maximum Sentence of 5 years or a $10,000 fine or both

Threats of Violence-Reckless Disregard Risk, with a Maximum Sentence of 5 years or a $10,000 fine, or both

The criminal complaint states:

On April 17, 2025, at about 2:55 p.m., officers from the Mankato Department of Public Safety were dispatched to a Mankato Business to investigate a suspicious person.

Employees reported that a man entered the store wearing a heavy winter jacket, green stalking cap, a COVID Mask and gloves. The man, later identified as Mohamed Adan Mohamed (DOB 10/19/2000), was selecting the following items: several magazines for a 9mm firearm; bear spray, and, body armor. The business became suspicious as he was selecting high priced items and not checking the prices.

Mohamed told people on the sales floor that he possessed an AR style rifle that was calibrated to 9mm. Investigation revealed a blue Toyota Sienna on the side of the building with no rear license plate. Mohamed left the business with approximately $2,150.00 worth of merchandise. Store security attempted a citizen’s arrest but Mohammed got into the Sienna. As Mohammed fled, he nearly ran over a person, drove over a curb and some mulch and onto Raintree Road.

Mohammed had been looking at a list as he selected items. He left the list at the business. At the top of the list it says “Survival Gear List with Alternative” which included sleeping bag, lighters, 8 magazines, knives, pepper spray, a “6-mag chest right,” bows and arrows. Mohammed had stolen eight magazines.

Officers noted the items and recalled that he had been on a “call for service” in the last week where Mohamed had been making several media posts showing firearms and ammunition and one post showing himself pointing an apparent assault rifle at the camera.. The hashtag for the media post was #deathtoamerikkan&israelliImperialism. Officers had also learned that Mohammed had access to a blue 2001 Toyota Sienna which was registered to a person at the address where Mohammed lived in St. Peter.

A Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Special Agent had compiled information and was aware of the thefts and postings. The Agent told law enforcement that “there were strong indicators that Mohamed was preparing to conduct some sort of attack (Mass Casualty Event) in the next twenty-four hours.”

The St. Peter Police Department executed a Search Warrant at Mohamed’s residencein St. Peter and found te gun he has posted on a website; one photo shows him pointing the purported assault rifle at the camera. Mohammed was arrested by St. Peter police and placed in the Blue Earth County Jail.
