Suspect in Custody Related to Mapleton Homicide

On 06-03-25 at 2:11 am deputies and troopers responded to a vehicle off the roadway on Highway 22 south of the Terrace View Golf Course. The witness said the driver left the vehicle walking northbound on Highway 22, but law enforcement was unable to locate him.

Deputies checked the registered owner’s residence in Mapleton and found him deceased inside his home with obvious signs of trauma. Local law enforcement was aware of another person that lived with the victim/registered owner of the car and began efforts to locate him.

Law enforcement continued searching the area of Highway 22 south of the Terrace View Golf Course. The driver approached deputies during the search and was taken into custody for related charges. He was verified as the person known to live with the victim.

The name of the victim and suspect are not being released at this time pending notification to family members. The incident remains under investigation by the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office and Mapleton Police Department with assistance from the MN BCA.

There is no danger to the public and additional information is expected to be released later today.
