The Waseca community showed record energy and Bluejay pride on Saturday, November 22, as families, students, and supporters gathered for the annual Bluejay Blast – Presented by Katie Gonzales, State Farm Insurance. The full-day celebration featured morning family activities and an evening Flannels & Fizz event, all coming together to raise funds and rally support for Waseca Public Schools.

The day kicked off with a morning family event featuring a pancake breakfast and activities for kids and families. Parents, students, and community members filled the space throughout the morning, creating a warm, hometown atmosphere before many headed to Minneapolis to cheer on the Waseca Bluejay football team in the state championship game.

In the evening, doors opened for Flannels & Fizz, the adults-only Bluejay Blast celebration. Guests arrived in their best flannel for an energetic night of raffles, baskets, games, food, and beverages—all with one goal: supporting students and staff across the district.

“November 22 will go down as one of the greatest days for Bluejay Pride,” said Brett Prescher, Bluejay Blast Co-Chair. “From the pancake feed to the football game to Flannels & Fizz, our community showed up for our kids in every possible way.”

This year’s event saw unprecedented generosity from the community: over 170 businesses, individuals, families, and classrooms donated items to help make the raffles, silent auctions, and prize baskets possible.

“The support was overwhelming in the best way,” said Abby Nelson, Bluejay Blast committee member. “Our sponsors stepped up, our volunteers went above and beyond, and our families never stopped saying ‘yes.’ Every dollar raised goes right back into creating opportunities for Waseca students.”

Funds raised from Bluejay Blast help support classroom needs, enrichment opportunities, student experiences, and staff appreciation efforts throughout the year.

Donations Still Welcome
