VINE Receives Grant from Mankato Clinic Foundation
VINE has received a $10,000 grant from the Mankato Clinic Foundation to be used to help support four evidence-based and research-informed programs offered at VINE including Stepping On, Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance, Parkinson’s Powerful Principles, and Dementia Friendly Fitness—all designed to help older adults reduce fall risk, improve balance, and maintain independence.
All classes are free and open to the public, led by trained VINE staff and volunteers, and scheduled throughout the year. Stepping On and Tai Ji Quan are typically offered in the fall and spring; Parkinson’s Powerful Principles and Dementia Friendly Fitness run year-round. Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions in each series for maximum benefit.
This grant aligns directly with the Mankato Clinic Foundation’s mission to improve community health through evidence-based wellness initiatives. “By supporting these programs, the Foundation will help older adults in our region live healthier, safer, and more connected lives, while reducing the broader cost burden on the healthcare system,” VINE’s Director of Programs, Adam Massmann said.
The physicians at the Mankato Clinic provide the majority of the Foundation funding as a means to give back to the community by providing support to organizations which strive to improve health and wellness. Grants are awarded on a quarterly basis and are considered only through the application process. Applications are available at www.mankatoclinic.com/mankato-clinic-foundation.
