Mankato Department of Public Safety responds to early morning house fire on Lincoln Street
Mankato Public Safety responded to a house fire at 227 Lincoln Street early Monday morning, Sept. 15. The call came in at approximately 4:53 a.m., and Mankato Police Officers were the first to arrive.
Occupants were alerted to the fire by working smoke detectors and some began evacuating prior to the arrival of emergency responders. Officers entered the residence to help evacuate those who were still inside. Mankato Fire arrived and quickly extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported. Mayo Clinic Ambulance stood by as a precaution.
As part of the investigation, officers obtained and reviewed surveillance footage from the residence. Based on the footage, a suspect was identified. The individual was later located and taken into custody without incident. Charges of first-degree arson are being forwarded to the County Attorney’s Office for consideration.
Damage to the property is estimated at $50,000.
