South Central College Adds Evening Welding Classes This Fall
South Central College (SCC) is launching new evening welding options beginning with the Fall 2026 semester at its North Mankato campus. Designed for individuals who work or have other daytime commitments, the new evening offerings provide greater flexibility while delivering the same hands-on training and instruction as SCC’s daytime welding courses. Registration is now open.
The new evening schedule allows students to build in-demand welding skills on a timetable that fits their lives. Students may take one or multiple courses at a time and work toward earning a Welding Certificate at their own pace.
“Welding continues to be one of the region’s most in-demand careers, and we are excited to expand one of our most popular programs for prospective students who may be working during the day or simply prefer evening classes,” said SCC Dean of Business and Industry George Taylor. “These new evening classes provide an accessible pathway for individuals seeking to start a new career, enhance their current skills or pursue additional training while maintaining daytime responsibilities.”
Students enrolled in the program will receive hands-on training using industry-standard equipment and techniques while learning from experienced faculty in SCC’s modern welding labs. Coursework is aligned with workforce and industry needs, preparing students for opportunities in manufacturing, construction, metal fabrication and related industries.
Fall classes begin Aug. 24 at South Central College’s North Mankato campus. Prospective students are encouraged to register early, as enrollment may be limited.
