Charges were filed against a Mankato man in Blue Earth County District Court for breaking into a pair of businesses in Mankato in 2023. He is accused of stealing cash, gold coins/jewelry, gift cards and other items, according to a criminal complaint. Kyle Scott James, 39, was charged with felony burglary and felony damage to property after police responded to a report of a burglary in January 2023 at an address associated with PappaGeorge’s Restaurant and Bar in Mankato on Riverfront Drive. The owner told police the burglar stole around $450 worth of cash and $300 of gift cards. The business next door reported theft of gold coins and jewelry as well as car titles and credit cards. Blood drops found at the scene were processed and linked to James by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and police used a search warrant on his residence, where they found the gold coins and jewelry, the complaint stated. One officer also discovered a gold necklace that was pawned, presumably by the suspect in the case. The businesses also reported more than $3,000 in damages after the burglary.
