Mankato Man Charged with Domestic Assault, Threats of Violence

A Mankato man was charged with Domestic Assault and threats of violence after an incident on Tuesday. Thomas Haugesag of Mankato was charged Wednesday in Blue Earth County District Court with the following counts:

Threats of Violence, a Felony with a Maximum Sentence of 5 years or a $10,000 fine, or both.

Harassment – Reasonable fear of substantial bodily harm, a Gross Misdemeanor with a Maximum Sentence of 364 days or a $3,000 fine or both.

Domestic Assault, a Misdemeanor with a Maximum Sentence of 90 days or a $1,000 fine, or both. 

According to the criminal complaint: Mankato Department of Public Safety was dispatched to a residence on January 14th at 7:05 PM in Blue Earth County to investigate a report that Thomas Haugesag said he wanted to kill himself and a woman at the residence. Officers spoke with the victim and learned she had been in a relationship with Haugesag since high school. The victim reported Hauesag has anger problems and has been physically violent with her in the last week.
