Minnesota Legislature Moving To Restore Voting Rights For Felons Upon Release
(St. Paul, MN) — Several Minnesota legislators are considering taking action to restore voting rights for felons immediately after they’re released from custody. The DFL majorities in the House and Senate support a bill that eliminates a two-year wait for those convicted of a crime to vote after they are released from behind bars. The House passed the bill 71-to-59 last week. Its companion bill in the Minnesota Senate is expected to pass soon. Governor Tim Walz supports the move.
