Passenger Injured in Crash near Acoma Township

A passenger was injured in a two vehicle crash near Acoma township. The crash occurred at 3:28 pm Wednesday on Minnesota Highway 22 at Mile Post 132 in Acoma Township. A 2014 Ford Focus driven by Kevin Douglas Johnson of Atwater was traveling southbound. A 2009 Chevrolet HHR driven by Angel Carrera Valdez of Litchfield was travelling northbound when the vehicles collided. Karen Elaine Carrera Valdez, a passenger in Angel Valdez’s vehicle was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield with non-life threatening injuries. Airbags deployed in both vehicles and all involved were wearing their seatbelts. Assisting at the scene were the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, Hutchinson Fire Department and Allina Ambulance
