A suspect wanted in connection with a double homicide in Hanska, Minnesota, has been taken into custody. According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, 45-year-old Randy Thomas Zimmerman was arrested in Iowa on Sunday afternoon around 4:12 p.m. by multiple agencies, including the Louisa, Washington, and Muscatine County Sheriff’s Offices, along with the Iowa State Patrol. Zimmerman was wanted on a Brown County warrant for the shooting deaths of a 50-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman earlier that morning.

Authorities say the incident occurred at a residence on the 100 block of Blessum Street West in Hanska around 4:22 a.m. A 911 call from a juvenile witness reported that his mother’s ex-boyfriend had broken into the home and shot her. When deputies arrived, they found both victims deceased from gunshot wounds. Zimmerman had fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, sparking a multi-state manhunt that concluded with his arrest in Iowa.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office says details surrounding Zimmerman’s capture have not yet been released. The case remains under investigation with assistance from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, New Ulm and Sleepy Eye Police Departments, Hanska Fire Department, and several local and regional law enforcement agencies.
