Blue Earth County Recycling and Waste Reduction Advisory Committee Seeking Applicants

Blue Earth County is seeking nine members for openings on the new Recycling and Waste Reduction Advisory Committee. The Committee shall work to increase participation in, and provide education about, solid waste programs including reuse, recycling, organics, hazardous wastes, and other solid waste topics as appropriate, advise the Department on solid waste programs, projects, and priorities, and work with local organizations, as appropriate, to promote community engagement in solid waste activities.

Among the expected activities of committee members: participate in educational opportunities at community events, assist with creating and maintaining systems for better sharing information with the public, and communicating with staff to help improve the accessibility of solid waste programs and services throughout the county. The Blue Earth County Recycling and Waste Reduction Advisory Committee requires a commitment of one meeting per month, in addition to other volunteer hours as needed. Members will serve two-year terms. Preference will be enacted during the member selection process to help ensure that the entirety of the county is represented. Committee members will receive a per diem for meetings. Applications for the committee will close on Friday, January 2, or after all positions have been filled.
