ISG’s Martin County Ditch No. 28 Nutrient Treatment Train project has received two honors: the 2026 ACEC Minnesota Engineering Excellence Grand Award and the ACEC National Engineering Excellence Award, recognizing innovative engineering solutions that improve drainage performance while protecting water quality.

The project, completed in partnership with Martin County, integrates a nutrient treatment wetland and two-stage ditch system to reduce nutrient runoff, stabilize streambanks, and protect the Fairmont Chain of Lakes—the City of Fairmont’s drinking water source.

ISG’s Chuck Brandel attended the national awards banquet celebrating engineering excellence across the country.

“It was meaningful to be in a room full of fellow honorees,” Brandel said. “This award reflects the ISG’s collective effort behind the project and our industry’s shared commitment to improving water quality, reducing flood risk, and strengthening agricultural resilience.”

The ACEC National Engineering Excellence Awards and ACEC Minnesota Grand Award represent the organization’s highest project honors.
