- Pork carnitas from Aldi stores are getting a contamination alert nationwide. FDA officials say the fully cooked products produced from April 1-2 may have pieces of metal inside. The product has not been recalled since it is no longer available, but it may be in people’s fridges and freezers. Consumers should throw out or return these products with an establishment number “Est. 46046” inside the USDA mark of inspection. No injuries have been reported.
- A Willmar man will be sentenced today (Tues, 2:25 pm) for a drunken driving crash that killed a pedestrian in December of 2023. Kandiyohi County prosecutors say 34-year-old Paulo Portillo pleaded guilty to fatally striking 52-year-old Jason Jarvis of Cokato in Willmar and fleeing the scene. Portillo turned himself in to the police about a month later. He pleaded guilty in November.
