Mankato Area Public Schools Opens Nominations for the Spirit of Youth Award

Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) Community Education is proud to announce that nominations are now open for the Spirit of Youth Award. This recognition celebrates individuals and groups within the MAPS community who exemplify the core values of courage, integrity, accountability, and inclusive practices.

The Spirit of Youth Award honors both youth and adults who inspire and enable positive change within the MAPS community. By fostering an environment that uplifts these values, nominees serve as role models who contribute to creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for all.

Youth Nominees

Youth nominees are individuals who engage in activities that reflect these core values:

 

• Courage: Demonstrating bravery in the face of adversity, standing up for what is right, or taking bold actions that benefit others.

 

• Integrity: Exhibiting honesty, strong moral principles, and consistency in actions, even when no one is watching.

 

• Accountability: Taking responsibility for their actions, being reliable, and holding themselves and others to high standards.

 

• Inclusive Practices: Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion while ensuring everyone feels valued and respected.

Adult Nominees

Adult nominees are individuals who empower and support youth by modeling and promoting these values, creating a positive and inspiring environment for the next generation.

“The Spirit of Youth Award highlights the many ways people in our community demonstrate kindness, leadership, and integrity,” said Audra Boyer, Director of Community Education. “It’s an opportunity to recognize those whose actions make a lasting, positive difference for others.”
