Mankato Public Safety Responds to Stove Fire

At approximately 10:50 p.m. on March 26, Mankato Fire crews were dispatched to a report of a stove fire at Riverfront Studio Suites, located at 1708 N. Riverfront Dr. Upon arrival firefighters found light smoke coming from an apartment with an activated sprinkler head, which contained the fire.

Firefighters quickly ventilated the apartment and fully extinguished the fire. The building’s residents, who were asleep at the time, were alerted by functioning smoke detectors and safely evacuated.

No injuries were reported. Residents of the affected apartment were relocated to a nearby motel for the night. Fire staff highlighted the importance of working smoke detectors, which provided early warning and helped the people living in the building get out safely.

Property and content damages are estimated at $30,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
