Public Invited to Attend Never G;ve Up 2022 Expo for Mental Wellness
The inaugural Never G;ve Up, 2022 Expo for Mental Wellness will be held in Mankato on Tuesday, December 13 at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center. The event includes an afternoon session for mental health professionals and an evening session, starting at 6:00 pm, for the general public (no registration required). The evening session begins with a mental health resource fair. Mental health providers and vendors will be on site providing information about various mental health services and resources, as well as offering selfcare and take home items for attendees.
Blue Earth County Human Services Director of Business Operations Angela Youngerberg said, “Mental illness and suicide truly have no boundaries, and therefore the event is open to the general public. Anyone who is interested and wants to attend is welcome. We want people to come out and engage; learn about community resources, talk to the professionals and organizations from the community that have booths at the resource fair. At Blue Earth County, we’re learning more about the statistics surrounding the number of people that don’t know how to access the basic mental health services in their community. So this is an event where we can really share that information and get it out to the community.”
Following the resource fair, American Suicide Prevention Speaker and Survivor Kevin Hines (https://www.kevinhinesstory.com/) will speak at 7:00 pm. Hines is a best-selling author, global public speaker and award winning documentary filmmaker, who attempted to take his life by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge in 2000. Attendees will hear his story of hope, healing, and recovery.
The Never G;ve Up 2022 Expo for Mental Wellness is sponsored by Blue Earth County Human Services through grant funds provided by the South Central Community Based Initiative and the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
