Shortly after 2:30 pm on Friday, August 26th, 2022, officers  from the North Mankato Police Department were dispatched to a driving complaint in the  area of US Hwy 14 and Lookout Dr.

A North Mankato officer located the vehicle described in the driving complaint parked at  the gas pumps at Kwik Trip on Commerce Dr and determined the registered owner had warrants for his arrest.

The officer approached the subject who was still seated in the vehicle and attempted to  take him into custody. The subject immediately resisted the officer and during the course of the struggle was able to put his vehicle in gear and violently drive forward with the  officer still inside. The subject’s vehicle then struck the squad car of an arriving back-up  officer.

The subject, Jacob Spencer Langton, age 31, of Mankato, was arrested on outstanding  felony warrants and is currently being held in the Nicollet County jail awaiting formal charges for this afternoon’s incident.

No injuries were sustained during this incident. Both the squad car and suspect’s vehicle received minor damage. North Mankato Police were assisted by deputies from the  Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office.
